I agree with sspo, it's her special day and as a friend you should respect that and not make it uncomfortable for her. I don't know how close you are, you may ask her if you could go if you really wanted to, but that may put you in a situation where you could get hurt. A friend's wedding is not the time to make a stand for you new found freedom. The PO's funeral now that could be a good time to gate crash......

Received this via e-mail today anf thought I would share The Pastor's Donkey The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won.
The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he
entered it in the race again, and it won again.
The local paper read: ..... PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity
that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in
another race. The next day, the local paper headline
read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.
This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the
pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided
to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.
The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the
following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN .
The Bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would
have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a
farmer for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.
This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the
nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains
where it could run wild. The next day the headlines
read: NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.
Alas, the Bishop was buried the next day. MORAL OF THE STORY ? Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery and even shorten your life. So,
be yourself and enjoy life ... stop worrying about
everyone else's ass and you'll live longer and be a
lot happier! -

Watchtowers Investment in Warfare Technology
by carla inhttp://www.geocities.com/wtgreed/article.htm just a reminder and for newbies

In the early 80s my father worked for a company that manufactured explosives mostly used for gold mining in South Africa with some of the explosives going to the South African Defense Force(less than 10%) The JWs that were studying with my parents at the time told him to find other employment as he would not be accepted by Jehovah should he carry on working there. My dad made the move and took a pay cut in the new job that was acceptable!!!!!!!!!
So tell me DannyBloem how is this not a big deal. My father could not carry on working there because of less than 10% of the work going to SADF but they can own half the company. You know what? It's a big deal to me.

We are here for Adoption!
by new boy ini was taking to grace (mouthy) on the phone today in canada.....what a sweetheart she truly is.. we have decided to put ourselfs out for adoption.
since i have lost family members because of being a jehovah's witness for 52 years and since many here have lost wifes, husbands, children, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, and of course friends.. we have decided to put ourselfs out for adoption...............grace told me today she would be happy to be your grandmother to all that would like to have a grandmother..........i would love to be a father to anyone who would like to have a father.........that no longer has one.. we have this to offer to all...........the most important thing a parent, grand parent or friend can offer their child, grandchild or friend........and that is, unconditional love to all.......you are all perfect.the love that real family members may have is conditional.......but true love never is.
we are here for you all.............and anyone else here on this board that would like to be a grandparent parent, father, mother, sister, brother or friend ............. please let all here know now.. as the italians say "familia"...........we are family!........we are here for adoption.

Going to write to my mom
by Mrs Smith ini want to write to my mom to tell her of some of the things that led me to fade.
i think if it's written in a kind and loving way she will read it and i may plant a few seeds of doubt in her mind.
i don't want to bombard her with too much info, but give her enough food for thought.

Hi Jakes
So happy to hear your wife is starting to seethe "light".
I tend to be on the emotional side and a conversation my become too heated with too may interuptions from my mom.. But I like Frannies idea of writting and reading the letter to her asking her not to reply or interupt till the whole letter is read. I will start writing it this week and will phone her soon. I'm not worried about been "found out" I have very little contact with my family as it is - they are always pleasant when we do chat - I have very little to do with my hubby's family and no friends in the borg. I feel emotionally ready for the next step, whatever that may be. I will not da myself and will not attend a jc, but they (the JW elders) must do what they must do, I really don't care. I don't play by their rules, they have NO hold on me. Just trying to get my mom out if I can. My dad will just follow her so I don't even have to try him. His only in cause my mom is. The one thing that may very well hold her back is the fact that her life revolves around the JWs having no outside friends or interests. Also the fact that I live far away from them and so does my sister (who is no longer a JW). So they would be very much alone if they do leave.

Soledad I appriciate your reply, but need to add that when I spoke to my mom she said that no one was going to tell her wether she's allowd to speak to her child or not and the did not belong to the mafia and would never report me. She also said that she did not believe that only JW's have a chance of surviving armaggedon and that God looks at your heart condition. Pretty open minded for a JW. I don't believe in armaggedon but thought her views were a little different to the norm and that is why I feel I can plant a bit of doubt in her mind. I'm going to write the letter. Just need a bit of direction.

Two Christians just came to my door....knock knock
by AK - Jeff ini let them in - and after they installed my new phone service [yes they were with the cable company], we had a nice discussion about our mutual faith [practiced in three distinct manners].. the installer first looked at my desk, and saw a copy of the kit [i was just listening to a mp3 audio that debunks it totally] , a copy of steve hassan's 'combatting cult mind control' [a recent gift from another poster here on jwd], a copy of reverand lingle's book 'approaching jehovah's witnesses in love', and a copy of 'church history in plain language'.
a glance at my bookselves revealed a dozen bible translations, and dozens of apostate volumes [coc, isocf, gtr, etc].
so he knew right off that i must be religious.. we had a nice conversation after they were done.

Since coming out of the Org. we have found that there are lots of really nice "worldly people", with very good principles and they do not condemn us for having been JWs.
That is so true twinkletoes. The JW's are the one who judge and condemn people. The "wordly" people are the ones who are accepting towards others. Obviously this is a generalization, but my experiences are definetly very positive.
